Apply for Approval

Which Type of Approval is Required?

There are two types of approval; either Approved Clinician or Section 12(2) approval.

Information

For Registered Medical Practitioners and Multi Professional Practitioners, please review the All Wales Approved Clinician Procedural Arrangements and also review the Welsh Government Guidance.

For registered medical practitioners only, once Approved Clinician approval is granted, this also confers Section 12(2) approval.  For multi-professional practitioners who are not registered medical practitioners, Approved Clinician approval does not also confer Section 12(2) approval.

Practitioners who have extant Approved Clinician status granted by one of the four England region approval panels may be eligible to apply for fast tracked Wales AC approval. Please refer to the All Wales Approved Clinicians Procedural Arrangements for further information and your route of application.

For registered medical practitioners who are seeking Section 12(2) approval only, please review the eligibility and documentation requirements listed in the All Wales Section 12(2) Process and Criteria.

For all applicants seeking approval, please submit an enquiry form and provide full details of the type of approval you are seeking.

The All Wales Approval Team will respond to your enquiry and send you an application form, reference template and other application documentation. If you are unsure which type of approval you are eligible to apply for, please let the Team know this on your enquiry form and we will contact you to discuss and advise.
